Adam's Canyon

Anyone who's grown up in the Layton area knows how much fun Adam's Canyon is. It's a hiking trail with a creek running along side the trail the whole way leading you to a waterfall. The scenery is very beautiful. It's about 4 miles long round trip and sometimes steep, but very worth the trip. We went on Saturday (4th) with Ryan's younger brother and his family, who recently moved to Utah. We're very excited to have them closer so we can get to spend some time with them.

Ryan carried Jared the whole way; what a trooper. I tried for a little while while we were at the waterfall. That kid is getting heavy! The trail was a lot steeper that what I remembered when I was in young women's. I guess I was in better shape back then. :{ Ryan's not very good at trying to keep a slow pace, so instead he'd get way ahead of us and then sit and wait for us to catch up. He finally just went the rest of the way to the waterfall and then sat there and enjoyed the scenery while waiting for us.

Jared did very well during the hike and liked seeing everything. I guess he fell asleep on the way back and stayed asleep until Ryan got back to the parking lot.

Luigi, Domi, and I arrived at the waterfall together. After Domi and I went and stood in the mist of the waterfall to cool off, I took Jared so Ryan could go do some climbing. He climbed up one side of the waterfall, and climbed probably about 100ft until he could see the top of the waterfall. He says he could see a couple little waterfalls leading to this big one. Luigi was right behind him and climbed pretty high too.

Once Jason and Sandra arrived, Jason did some climbing too.

We had fun playing around in the creek next to the waterfall, before leaving. There was a very nice family sitting and having a sack-lunch. Apparently they'd packed too much food, so they were giving us granola bars, jell-o cups, crackers, and ice cold water bottles to help lighted their load. We really appreciated it, since the only thing we have was our water bottles, which by that point only had a little warm water in them.

Even though it was hot and exhausting, it was a very fun family activity and had some very beautiful sights and sounds that you don't get to experience everyday.
