Dear Family and Friends (Viewers), bear with us as we catch-up on some of our blogging that we should have done a while ago, but life happens, better late than never. ;) We would just skip some of these things that have gone and past, but this is also our family journal, and something we want to be able to share with our posterity and relatives in years to come, so we find the value in going back to record some past events. Thanks for caring about how we're doing and checking in on our blog! We're grateful to have such a nice way to share the things that are going on in our day-to-day lives while we're living so far away from all our loved ones.
While we were living in Provo, during Ryan's final semester before graduating, he took a ceramics class. He's always seemed to enjoy creating things with his own hands and his own design, and been good at it too. I've seen it in his sewing, painting, sketching, welding, wood work, and his many designs for inventions and plans for making things work better. So, it's no wonder Ryan really got into his ceramics class and enjoying spinning wet clay in his hands and turning it into some pretty neat masterpieces.

There were a few projects he had to do on the wheel and off the wheel to get a grade for the class, which he did, then he spent many more hours in the studio making things for family and for our home. By the way, we hope everyone who received one enjoyed their gift. One reason we delayed posting this is so that no one would see their birthday gift for last year, in these photos, before they got to open them.

After making quite of few vases, bowls and things, Ryan became very comfortable on the wheel and would ask me what I wanted him to make. I told him some things I'd been wanting and he made basically everything, a cookie jar, french butter dish, and a pie plate that was good for exactly one half of any pie recipe I wanted to make, perfect for when I just want to make a small pie for just Ryan, Jared, and I.

When Mom and Roni came to visit during our last few months in Provo, Ryan got to show them all his ceramics. Roni was taking a ceramics class in high school at the time, so Ryan got to talk to her about technique and even brought her and my mom to the campus studio so they could tell him what they wanted him to make for them and watch him make it.

One of my favorite things that Ryan made was this four-tiered fountain. I thought it was amazing! After it was finished he bought a small pump for it and tried it out in the bath tub. It worked pretty well, but he's not completely satisfied with how it works yet.
