The days leading up to the tulip time parade there were two or three
carnivals around town, including one in the dutch village, as well as
farmers markets and craft fairs. We didn't have time to go to all of
these, so this year we decided to go to the parade.
We had some friends here in the ward who lived on the road that the parade goes down. They invited us to come over and we were able to have a hot dog lunch and some pretty good seats saved for us.
While we were there Jared and Karl played with some other kids that the
family had invited over. One of the boys was Jared's age and was named
Jared too. Jared thought that was pretty awesome and had fun playing
with the other Jared. The other Jared's dad was someone Ryan knew, was
home teaching companions with, from when he lived in Holland for an
internship before his mission. It was nice for them to catch up.
Before the parade, a police officer passed out Junior Police Officer badges. Emmaline and I got to be outside with the boys for a little while until Ryan got Emmaline to fall asleep and she and I went inside to stay warm and so she could sleep peacefully.

Karl liked this one from a high school robotics team who made a robot that shoots balls. We stayed from probably an hour to watch the parade, but we still left before it was quite finished, and it ended up being good timing, because it started to rain just as we were getting in our car. We had a good time and it was so fun to see the dutch heritage and all the beautiful tulips!!
