Daikin Activity

June 13, 2014

This summer, Ryan's employers at Daikin/Goodman had a little Friday afternoon activity at a park very close to their buildings. So, around lunch time, the boys and I drove down to this park and got to have some fun-time with Ryan in the middle of the day.
There was some watermelon to snack on. Jared loved it. I think he ate like three or four slices. All the employees were each given a folding camp chair for taking home, and they were set up nicely in the shade for watching the volleyball tournament that was going on. That's where Karl and I sat most of the time.
But, we did go back and forth between the splash pad for Jared and watching Ryan's team play their games. The volleyball games were just meant for having a good time, so Ryan enjoyed playing, but didn't really appreciate the people who were being nit picky or competitive, ruining the game for everyone else. That was the only downer for the activity for him.
We got to see a few of Ryan's work friends who we'd met before, and a couple of the ladies Ryan knew (Brenda and Martina) held Karl for a little while. That was nice for me. :-)
Jared had a great time at the splash pad. It was a very hot day, so it was a great way for him to cool off and he always enjoys watching how other kids play and sometimes joining them. He's very entertaining to watch!
As for the volleyball tournament: Ryan's team won in that they had the best time and made new friends (and got out of work). Jared, Karl, and I had to go home and wait a couple more hours before Daddy came home, but that was just enough time for the boys to get a nap in and we were glad to have been able to have a fun afternoon with him. :-)

Karl: 6 Months

June 5, 2014

Length: 26 3/4''
Weight: 19lb 6oz
At six months old, Karl had no teeth yet, but he has tried over a dozen different foods and is really enjoying the new variety.
This is also about the time that he discovered his feet. I was actually surprised the first time that he was able to grab them all by himself. His chubbiness made it a little more difficult for him. But, after he discovered he could grab his feet he wanted to do it all the time and got better and better at it. It was pretty cute.
One thing that Karl really liked to do was chew on his fingers or his bottom lip. It was so cute; it made his cheeks look chubbier and made him look like a little turtle.
One of the sweetest treasures of being a mom (parent) is hear your little one's laugh. At this age, he really liked whenever I played "this little piggy" with his toes and then would tickle him up his belly and around his neck. He was so ticklish and had the sweetest laughs!
By this age, he was able to roll over both ways, and to turn himself to face any direction but not really able to move forward or backward a whole lot. But, still he was able to move enough to make his play world just a little bigger. He's our cute little explorer!! :-)

Snack Time

June 4, 2014

Whenever Jared hears me ask Karl, "Are you ready for a snack?" he says, "And a Jared snack!?" So they often have snack time together. In this picture Karl is having baby-puffs and Jared is having his pretzel fish.
At this point, Karl is nearly six months old and is able to pick up his food, but not very good at putting it in his mouth. So, Jared liked to help him eat his snacks sometimes. He's a pretty good big brother. :-)
